Life / Time
Continuum ~ a Haiku
(published at www.write-away.co.uk
April 2000)
Time
is suspended.
Somewhere there is sound, movement,
but not in my world.
Motion. Time begins
with jarring noise, harsh light, pain.
I seek the soft breast.
I play through summer,
days stretching endless in a
children's cloudless sky.
Working late again ~
no time for wife and daughters.
Maybe tomorrow . . .
Too soon my body
clock runs down. Muscles, sinews,
organs start to fail
Smiling as I die
I look back with compassion
at my life's meaning.
Time is suspended.
Somewhere there is sound, movement,
but
not in my world.
